Doodle Coat Care Tips
(From the Pros!)
Brush daily or every other day to prevent mats.
Use a slicker brush and comb to work through the dog’s coat to the skin.
Good to invest in a quality slicker brush. Our groomers can provide attributes to look for in a brush.
Avoid overbrushing your doodle in one area for too long. This may result in the development of hot spots and skin irritation.
Plan for grooming every 6 – 12 weeks.
It is recommended to add a full-service bath between grooming appointments to allow our groomers to bath and brush out your doodle to keep their coat clean and mat-free.
Adjust grooming frequency depending on coat type, activity level and lifestyle, proneness to matting, how quickly the coat grows, and owner preferences.

-
Brush daily or every other day with a slicker brush and comb working the brush through the coat to the skin. Focus on areas that are prone to matting such as behind the ears, the tail, armpits and sensitive (sani) areas. Avoid over brushing in one area to avoid the development of hot spots and skin irritation.
-
Most doodles — Goldendoodles, Bernedoodles, Labradoodles, Aussiedoodles, etc..— follow a 6 - 12 week grooming schedule, adjusted for coat type, activity level, type of haircut, and owner preferences. This means that grooming frequency is more a function of the dog’s specific coat type and other variables and less reliant on a general rule of thumb regarding frequency by breed. Each dog’s coat and situation is unique.
